Star Trek (1979)

Tiger on the Beat (Lo Foo Chut Gang) dir. Chia-Liang Liu, 1988
Synopsis: A seasoned cop and his rookie partner are a pair of mismatched partners in this Hong Kong action-comedy in the style of ‘Lethal Weapon’. The wacky twosome are up in arms as they try to solve the murder of a heroin trafficker.
Thoughts: This was an interesting one since I’ve only ever seen Chow Yun Fat in fairly serious roles, I actually did even realize this was a comedy until I started watching it. To be fair it was rented purely on the promise of there being a chainsaw fight (which there is, a 10 minute one, wrap your head ‘round that). It’s a pretty standard buddy cop movie with the seasoned but irresponsible goof off, plated by Chow Yun, and an up and coming by the book rookie trying to prove his salt. Nothing special but a fun watch and so so worth it for the ending.
